With the massive budget deficit and division within our county, it's time we start collaborating for real solutions. I will work with the board on necessary and quick adjustments to our out of control budget. Prioritizing our students' success must come first! I will advocate for increased funding for our behavioral team support in classrooms, which is desperately needed. Additionally, I will push for a teacher pay increase that is far more substantial than the current 1.3%.

Churning and burning through new teachers has not been working in Alachua County. As a father and a teacher, I've watched new teachers burnout within their first few years due to a lack of training, support, and guidance, compounded by out-of-control behaviors in the classroom. We need new policies that focus on education leadership to provide effective behavioral team support for new teachers, as well as a teacher pay increase to attract and retain quality educators. Additionally, we must hold school-level leaders accountable for developing and guiding all teachers at every level.

Strong leaders in education leadership understand how to challenge, encourage, guide, and build together. They provide upward feedback and challenge everyone on their team when necessary, recognizing that a long career in education doesn't always equate to strong leadership. By offering behavioral team support, strong leaders help and guide their teams, working collaboratively to drive for results. They know how to build relationships and have a calculated approach to ensure successful outcomes for all goals, including advocating for a teacher pay increase. I will work with the board to strengthen our leaders so we can develop our teams and achieve our goals together.
