Wasteful spending has to stop now.

Good teachers are afraid to speak up.

We need to be more effective in budgeting for behavior support in the classroom. My plan as Gabriel Lopez for School Board in District 1 is to collaborate with the board to create new policies for behavior management funding and to ensure that teacher pay increases at a rate more respectable than the current 1.3% as we approach the school board 2026 elections.

We need real classroom support.

Dysregulated students in Alachua County are not being treated fairly or given an appropriate learning environment. These students are often passed around from one teacher to another, creating a destructive cycle that negatively impacts many classrooms. This issue is ultimately a simple funding and policy matter that we can address together. I, Gabriel Lopez for School Board, will collaborate with the Alachua County School Board and District 1 to reallocate funds for increased behavioral team support. I believe that all of our children will benefit from a more stable classroom setting, allowing them to learn with fewer disruptions as we move towards the School Board 2026 goals.

Teachers with highly effective performance evaluations are facing non-renewals and year-long teaching bans, which is leading some to walk away from education. This longstanding issue has reached a critical point, particularly in light of the Alachua County School Board's recent one-year ban tactic that needs to be reversed immediately. I will develop legal and effective performance policies that benefit all teachers and administrators in our community, especially looking ahead to the School Board 2026 election.

We cannot keep Blaming this on the teachers.

Our leaders are failing us. Students with uncontrollable behaviors are regularly permitted to stay in classrooms and deprive others of a safe and appropriate learning environment. Other counties are suing the State over this. What are we doing about it? This is not a data problem. This is a leadership problem.
